DoMerit is a personalized mindfulness and spiritual growth app. Designed an end-to-end mobile UX featuring habit-based "Merit Making," an ambient sound library, emotional journaling prompts, and companion integration for the Merit Ring wearable.

🧘 Case Study: DoMerit — Personalized Mindfulness, Merit Tracking & Spiritual Habit Ecosystem
Project Title: DoMerit — Redefine Mindfulness Through Intentional Habit Tracking & Merit Making
Role: Lead Product / UI/UX Designer
Platform: Mobile Application (iOS / Android) & Hardware Integration (Merit Ring)
Tools: Figma, Design Systems, Micro-Interactions, Data Visualization
Key Focus: Wellness Tech, Mindfulness, Hardware-Software Integration, Calming UI
💼 Project Overview
DoMerit is an innovative wellness application designed to transform daily check-ins into opportunities for spiritual growth and emotional clarity. Unlike traditional, rigid meditation apps, DoMerit adapts to non-linear mindfulness routines through Merit Making—tracking positive actions, habit building, guided soundscapes, and emotional journaling.
As the Lead UI/UX Designer, I crafted an intuitive, calm digital space that seamlessly bridges mobile app interactions with wearable hardware integration (the Merit Ring) to track bio-metrics and mindful moments effortlessly.

🎯 The Challenge
Screen Time Anxiety vs. Mindfulness: Users often experience cognitive overload when using digital apps for wellness. The app needed to feel tranquil rather than demanding or addictive.
Abstract Concepts into Tangible UI: Converting subjective practices like "Merit Making," emotional reflection, and spiritual habits into actionable, visual metrics without turning them into cold performance scores.
Hardware & Companion App Synchronization: Designing clear data visualizations for wearable hardware (Merit Ring bio-data) alongside soft, qualitative journal logging.
💡 Key Features & UI/UX Solutions Designed
1. Personalized Practice Engine & Daily Check-Ins
The Solution: Designed a dynamic home dashboard that adjusts recommendations based on time of day, current mood check-in, and recent stress indicators.
Design Detail: Integrated soft fluid animations and warm ambient lighting hues in the UI to prime the user's focus before starting a meditation session.
2. "Merit Ring" Hardware Integration & Raw Data Views
The Solution: Created an intuitive device-pairing flow and a dedicated bio-metric dashboard (including a specialized "Stats for Nerds" view) that translates raw sensor data into meaningful rest, presence, and recovery scores.
UX Impact: Bridges hardware metrics with habit-building without overwhelming non-technical users.
3. Community Soundscapes & Mindful Journaling
The Solution: Designed an audio player library for ambient sounds, breathwork, and guided meditations with horizontal pill navigation and distraction-free full-screen sound modes.
Journal Flow: Developed prompt-based reflection cards that guide users to process daily emotions and earn "Merit" points towards personal growth milestones.
⚙️ The Design Process
Behavioral Psychology Research: Evaluated how habit-formation loops (Cue → Action → Spiritual Reward) can foster long-term mental well-being without relying on toxic gamification.
Information Architecture: Streamlined the app into four core pillars: Daily Practice, Merit & Bio-Stats, Sound Library, and Reflective Journal.
Tranquil Design System: Created a high-contrast yet soft color palette (earth tones, soothing muted greens, dark slate mode for evening meditation) with gentle typographic hierarchy.
Prototyping & Sound Player Handoff: Engineered interactive prototypes for audio player transitions, habit-completion micro-animations, and ring sync feedback states.
📈 Key Outcomes & Impact
Higher Daily Retention: Flexible "Merit Making" framing reduced the drop-off typical of rigid daily meditation apps.
Seamless Hardware Onboarding: Simplified wearable pairing to a friction-free 2-step setup process.
Enhanced Visual Tranquility: Dark mode and ambient color palette optimized for low-light morning and evening sessions.

DoMerit demonstrates how hardware integration, gentle micro-interactions, and human-centered habit loops can create technology that calms the mind rather than cluttering it.
